Well, this weather has been great recently, and it looks set to continue well into the holiday weekend. So, there are no excuses - get yourself afloat and make the most of the fantastic sport that's on offer.
South Coast
Along the south coast there are continuing reports of some great plaice and turbot fishing. The Shambles and Skerries Banks producing the goods for loads of lucky anglers.
The first reports of black bream from the Poole and Lymington boats heralds the start of 'silly season' for many, and some boats have reported catching as many as 100 fish in a day. Of course, not all of these fish are kept - the main aim being to throw the breeding female fish back to help keep stocks healthy.
Those boats venturing offshore from many south coast ports have been getting stuck into some great pollack and cod sport. And it looks like this is going to continue for a good few weeks yet.
Wales
Sport in the bristol Channel continues with some good catches of codling still being reported and the first of the bass putting in an appearance too. The Swansea boats have also reported the first porbeagle sharks of the year too, just the other side of Lundy. The offshore wrecks are producing pollack and haddock of all things, and it won't be long until the bass begin to show in numbers. The North Wales boats are having some great mixed sport too, with all manner of species from tope and bull huss to wrasse, rays and even plaice putting in a good show. Another couple of weeks and the hounds should start showing, especially if this warm weather continues.
Scotland
Some of the reports we've had recently suggest some truly exceptional common skate fishing in the far north of Scotland, with up to eight fish being caught in a single session! There are plenty of thornbacks, doggies and the odd spurdog around too to keep you busy. again, it won't be long until the tope and hounds show up en masse - so pick a tide and go catch some!
North East
The Whitby and Hartlepool boats are enjoying continued inshore cod sport. This week there have been loads of cod to over 15lb caught, and out of Whitby in particular there seems to be a glut of big pollack this year. Most boats are only fishing three or four miles off, so it's a short steam out to some superb fishing. Well worth a trip if you fancy filling up your freezer.
East Coast
Boats fishing the Humber and areas around Skegness are reporting huge numbers of thornback rays. As are boats fishing the Thames, from both the Essex and Kent sides. There have also been a few decent bass caught this week, so it may well be time to start thinking about your summer bass fishing campaign.
Reports show that there are still a few codling around, and the first of the smoothhounds have already arrived. So it's good news all round.
Weather
The general forecast for the weekend is good, with pretty much all of the country experiencing light winds up to a max of 15mph - allthough in some areas it's from the dreaded easterly direction. At least we should all be able to get out and have a go though. And remember - take plenty of fluids, a hat, your sunnies and some sunscreen. It's gonna be a scorcher!
